When Angie learned she was expecting a baby, her heart raced. Her biggest wish, that of being a mother was finally becoming a reality. Sadly, she didn’t know that her husband, the man she adored, would give up on his wife and twins so easily. Angie and Jack met when they were still very young. Shortly after meeting, he proposed and they tied the knot. They did love each other, but Angie was unaware that Jack didn’t want any children, at least not when she learned she was expecting. Excited, she showed him the test she had taken, and instead of the reaction she expected, Jake got angry and told her he wasn’t ready to be a father. His business was just starting and he wasn’t willing to sacrifice his time and money on raising a child. Angie felt like her world collapsed. She couldn’t believe Jack could ever say such a thing. She begged him to accept the baby, assuring him she would be the one taking care of it so he could focus on his business. During the first doctor’s visit, things turned for the worse whey they learned they would be having twins. Jake was raged. He started yelling, asking from Angie to terminate the pregnancy. That, however, was out of question for her. She could never do such a thing.
When she gave birth to two twin boys, Jake could barely look at her or his sons. He spent his days at the office and never offered any help. Then, one night, he told Angie that she needed to give one of the babies up for adoption. “If you are okay with it, we are a family. If not, you can leave the house with them,” he told her. At first, she thought he was joking, but he then dragged her suitcase in the middle of the living room, trying to tell her his offer was serious. He told her he wasn’t ready to raise two children whom he saw as a burden to his pocket. He refused his sons’ needs to drain him financially.“Are you out of your mind?” Angie asked him. But Jake was determined.Soon, his wife and twins ended up on the streets.Angie was at the bus station, scared and fragile. She considered her choices, as though there were any. Her parents died long ago and she had no one to turn to.At that moment, she heard a woman’s voice asking her if she needed a lift. It was a nun whom Angie never met before. With tears rolling down her face, Angie told her she had nowhere to go, and the nun was kind enough to offer her shelter at the convent. There, Angie worked as a teacher in the school administered by the church. She also worked at a restaurant. It took her two years, but she was able to raise enough money to open a tiny coffee shop just around the corner. Over time, she was able to open two more coffee shops. Things were going great. She was able to provide her sons with the life they always deserved. One day, as she was getting ready for work, someone knocked on her door. It was Jack. He was dressed in worn-out clothes and looked tired. Not being able to look at Angie’s eyes, he told her his business failed and he owed a lot of money. He missed his wife and twins.Angie felt sorry for him. Her twins were now 6-years-old and he missed their childhood and all of their milestones, but she knew that holding grudges wasn’t the path to healing. As she handed Jake a check with the amount of money he needed, she told him she was willing to give him another chance. She could sense he was now a different man.
